November Food of the Month - Peanut Butter
Support Your Local Food Pantry - November 2008In these hard economic times, the Trinity UMC food pantry has been overwhelmed and needs our donations of food. We will have a collection each month with a “food item of the month.” For November, please bring in PEANUT BUTTER. The collection point is the narthex, where a bin has been set up. If everyone brings in one item, we can really make a difference each month! A volunteer is needed to bring the food to Trinity on the first Sunday of the month. Please see Dave Heistand or call 908.850.0372 .
From the November Journal
Mission . One of the big parts of why we are together as a community in the name of Christ, that's what it is. Our mission from Jesus to reach out to neighbors who need something in their lives, need some kind of help, no matter who they are. St. James' members have done this for years in various ways and you can read samples of that activity right here in the Journal, on this page. We gather up food for holidays, toys and clothes for children at Christmas, needed items for mariners far from home. We've started spending time with the folks at the women's home. We have offered an ESL program. These are just a few of the things that have been done.
Now we are looking to become a little more organized, a little more focused towards what we can do to extend our reaching out, to strengthen our mission in this place, at this time. We are looking for people interested in working on clarifying and directing our mission with the people of Hackettstown and beyond, working on creating a mission outreach and resource center at St. James', to take what has been done and expand it.
If you have such an interest, even a calling to work on this, contact me. I will be scheduling a meeting soon so we can gather to discuss where we might go, where Christ might lead us.

October Food of the Month - Mean-in-a-Can (like Tuna)
Support Your Local Food Pantry - October 2008
Dave Heistand, coordinator of our Mission Strategy efforts, has announced an immediate need of the Trinity United Methodist Church food pantry. In these hard economic times, the food pantry has been overwhelmed and needs our donations of food. In the month of August, the pantry served 474 people: 165 families consisting of 187 children, 261 adults, and 26 seniors. The pantry is open Monday, Tuesday and Thursday from 9-11 AM. They would love our help. We will have a collection each month with a “food item of the month.” For October, please bring in tuna, canned meat or meal-in-a-can items. The collection point is the narthex, where a bin has been set up. If everyone brings in one item, we can really make a difference each month! A volunteer is needed to bring the food to Trinity on the last Sunday of the month.
