Stewardship Announcement - Sunday, March 16, 2003 On the last Stewardship Sunday, we explained how the vestry has moved to making Stewardship a year long program.
In this Lenten season, we ask you to turn your thoughts to the stewardship of accumulated assets, those things that we've built up and acquired throughout our lives that, once we no longer need them, can be used to improve the lives of others. Perhaps for you that's planned giving - the integrating of charitable gifts into your overall financial, estate, tax and philanthropic planning to maximize the benefits both to you and the beneficiary of your gift. It's these types of investments in the future we are asking you to consider.
So, at this time of the stewardship year, we invite you to think about planned giving, will preparation, living wills, organ donation cards and all those things that not only will help you sort out your affairs, but enable you to give something back to your church and your community.
You will read and hear more about the Stewardship of accumulated assets and about a program the church will be sponsoring on April 27. This means you will have to think about what will happen when you're gone. But is there a better time to do that than at the time of year that starts with the admonition, "Remember that you are dust and into dust you shall return?"
