Parish Administration

God freely offers to do for us what we cannot do for ourselves. Our humble and openhearted acceptance of this is faith.

Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

The Rector is in charge of the day-to-day administrative responsibilities of St. James' Parish. Currently, the salaried staff includes the Parish Administrator, an Organist/Choir Director and a Sexton.

St James' Vestry, which consists of nine members, as well as a Junior and Senior Warden, is chaired by the Rector. Members of the Vestry serve three-year terms on a rotating basis. The Wardens serve two-year terms, with the Junior Warden typically succeeding as Senior Warden. The Vestry members represent the congregation and convey their ideas, suggestions and concerns to the Vestry as a whole.

The Vestry is the principal decision-making body of the Parish and has the overall responsibility for Parish life, finances and long-range planning. They meet once a month to review the overall status of the Parish and to discuss any matters that directly relate to Parish life. The Vestry works through a group of committees that include Education, Finance, Stewardship, Buildings and Grounds, Newcomers and Mission Strategy.

The Vestry usually participates in an annual retreat that serves as an opportunity for refocusing and renewing and for the overall spiritual planning for the future of St. James.
